The nation was shocked as the future president of the US continued to attack news networks like Buzzfeed and CNN.  Trump shut down Jim Acosta of CNN when Acosta asked if he could be given a question in exchange for the attacks made on the network.

The president-elect responded, “Your organization is terrible, No, I’m not going to give you a question. I’m not going to give you a question.”

This was the first news conference that Trump has held since July, and he has attracted more than 300 reporters to Manhattan, New York and it was live streamed to Australia, England and Germany.  He turned a controversy about his ties with Russia into a conference of attacks against the journalists who covered the issue.

For the last few decades, relations between the United States and Russia has been hostile, to say the least. With Donald Trump’s upcoming presidency, there has been talk about these relations changing. Russian President Vladimir Putin favors the current president-elect. Here is a history of major cyberattacks and alleged evidence surrounding the election and  connecting the relationship between Russia and Trump.

July 22, 2016: Wikileaks releases emails from the Democratic National Committee.

July 27, 2016: Trump says at a press conference, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” referring to Clinton’s deleted emails.

October 7, 2016: U.S. intelligence agencies officially accused Russia of hacking and interfering with the upcoming U.S. election.

December 9, 2016: The CIA determines Russia to have tampered with the U.S. elections, preventing democratic nominee Hillary Clinton from winning.

January 10, 2017: Buzzfeed leaks dossier from an anonymous intelligence source claiming Trump had forged deep ties with Russia. Trump denies these claims.

He also commented that Buzzfeed was, “a failing pile of garbage”, and seemed to be upset about Buzzfeed’s 35 page allegation about relations between Trump and Russia, after Russia’s attack by showing the US the private emails they have stolen from the DNC.

Shepard Smith of Fox News, an anchor for CNN’s rival network, later sided with Acosta and said, “journalists should not be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States.”

Buzzfeed’s editor in chief, Ben Smith, said he was “not going to participate in an attempt to divide the media against each other.”

However Buzzfeed’s actions have hurt reputations for left-wing news sources as the incoming White House press secretary incorrectly says, “The fact that BuzzFeed and CNN made the decision to run with this unsubstantiated claim is a sad and pathetic attempt to get clicks,”  accusing CNN of publishing claims against Trump’s ties with Russia.

In actuality,  CNN had decided to hold off on publishing the allegations due to unverified claims.

Trump is unfazed by the controversies and allegation and when asked about his tax returns, Trump brushed the question aside. He responded that reporters are the only people that care about tax returns and in a smug voice he stated, “I won.”
