Adventure is worth while in itself -Amelia Earhart

This picture describes an adventure itself. This is when I started to get the hang of wake boarding. It started with lots of attempts of falling and trying my best but then it clicked. I started getting up and moving in and out of the wake like I knew what I was doing. By the end of the day I was getting little jumps down, and to think I was against trying it all along at the start of the day. -Jake Alesia

On Truth

Will Harper, Student Submission, 11th Grade May 2, 2016

People omit truth all the time The effect is not so sublime. We can’t build faith, we can’t build trust How does a liar feel this lust? Sometimes the truth is too hard to hear So, in...

Madeline Laguaite, Features Editor March 30, 2016

National Poetry Month, which begins on the first of April, has only been around since 1996, (thanks to the Academy of American Poets) and it’s important to writers everywhere to keep the tradition of...

Everyone knows how inspiring, romantic, & Instagram worthy sunsets can be, but most of us only make time for them when we are on vacation, as if that peaceful, beautiful moment can only occur when we are in an exotic place. In reality, the sun sets every single day, no matter where you are. You can easily infuse some wonder & awe into your regular routine by walking out onto your back porch after dinner and be reminded of all the things you have to be thankful for, like I did in this picture. -Taylor Foggie

This picture was taken over the summer when my family and I went on a road trip. In West Virginia we stopped at River Valley Gorge and I was inspired to take this picture because of the way the trees frame the bridge and its natural beauty.

When The Battles of Thames Killed Tecumseh: First and Second Variations

SungMin Park, Staff Writer March 16, 2016

The poem is fiction. It comes in two variations and it is written from Tecumseh's point of view. I imagined Tecumseh dying to an American soldier, a soldier who displayed a laughable irony. The irony is...

This older woman asked to be allowed to paint within the art museum in D.C. and I was fortunate enough to witness her painting an exact replica of this famous painting. She has a true talent and would rather paint for the joy of it without being considered a professional and without seeking fame.

This was taken on a day that I had a really important test in first period. I was extremely stressed and almost late for school, but this sunrise made me feel an inner peace and happiness. I slowed down and appreciated my surroundings, and it made me realize that even if I was late, everything was going to be okay. I just had to slow down and breathe. -Esosa Ekhosuehi

Are you okay, young warrior? Does the sun's kiss cook you dry Will it leech all your energy If so, then you will die. You've crossed the mighty river Swam through the flood What gave you such strength? Prayer...

The picture was intended to capture the rainbow. The freighter passing by was sheer luck. -Josh Lombardo

Speak Up

I've never been good with words You know, the ones that crawl up your throat From the oxygen and thought that surfaces in your lungs And circulates in your brain Reverberating from the chords of your...

I saw a small puddle of water, and didnt think anything of it. Walking by it, these colors caught my eye. I was in a shopping mall parking lot, of all places, and just wanted to go home, but I had to stop and take a picture of this. The colors blend beautifully and brightened up my day. - Lacey Ewers
