The original Belmont Mansion was constructed for Adelicia Acklen and her husband, Joseph, As a summer home away from their Louisiana roots. At the time they were one of the richest families in the United States; though, their wealth did not spare them from Union Army occupation of the mansion proceeding the battle of Nashville in the Civil War. Today, the mansion is open for tours, with several of the rooms restored to their original brilliance.

Every aspect of Belmont University’s campus is bright and welcoming, but the icy-blue glow of the fountain in front of McWhorter Hall makes for one of the most eye-popping of Belmont’s features. Complete with a spacious green lawn, the fountain is hangout central for students when weather is nice. Impromptu football games are commonplace here among fraternities.

The city of Nashville, Tennessee, is renowned as a home to country music, southern hospitality, and acclaimed universities. From the streets lined with honky tonks each echoing their own live music to the pristine campus of Belmont University, Nashville, along with her soulful locals, lives up to reputation. The traffic guards remind you to smile. The street performers offer a “God bless” to those that drop a dollar in their case. The music industry is booming, and the character is strikingly present. The summary could roll on and on, but a picture is worth a thousand words. Here are a few: see them and believe.
