Can this playlist change your opinion of country music?
I’ve noticed that when people are asked,
“What kind of music do you like to listen to?”
The most common response is something along the lines of,
“I like all music; anything but country.”
I think the stereotype surrounding country music has shaped our opinions before we really listen to what country music has become. It’s not just rednecks singing about heartbreak and drinking anymore! Modern country has become something much more, and trust me when I say it’s worth trying!
The reason why so many people love country music is the heart behind it. Listening to it just makes you happy; It reminds you of the carefree days of summer and the little moments that make life beautiful. Country music is a sense of “small town” community; a personification of what really matters: good friends and family.
Give this playlist a chance, and maybe you’ll find some new favorites. There’s nothing wrong with a little southern hospitality!

Thank you for making this! As a fellow country music lover, people are always teasing me when they find out, but they refuse to listen to it or even give it a chance. I used to be that way, but then I started listening to it and fell in love. I have the WNGC app on my phone and many, many country playlists saved on 8tracks. It’s so homey and like you said, reminds one of summer. I mean, there is a lot of problematic culture behind lots of music, but there’s been definite improvements and I’ll enjoy it no matter what.
