Lambert HOSA takes on the Fall Leadership Conference in Atlanta
Lambert HOSA, the largest HOSA chapter in the world, took over one hundred members to the annual Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis.
Members of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) from all over Georgia come to the Fall Leadership Conference to attend workshops, compete in competitive events, and network with professionals.
The opening session begins with thousands of HOSA students coming together in a ballroom to listen, speak, and celebrate Georgia HOSA members. Callahan Thompson, a Junior at Lambert and Georgia HOSA president-elect, gave a speech at the opening session.
The featured guest speaker, psychiatrist Dr. Adolph Brown, gave a speech highlighting the concept of working hard and pursuing one’s dreams. His speech emphasized the toxicity of aiming for perfection, and he connected to the HOSA members through pop culture.
The second day of the conference focused on the workshops and competitive events. There was a rush to attend many of the workshops. Some of the most popular workshops included the Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation, Open Heart Surgery, and Leadership Through Your Voice, the last of which was given by national HOSA president Priya Rathakrishnan, a Lambert alumni.
Tara Velappan, a sophomore at Lambert, won first place in the Speaking Contest. Along with many chapters and members, she was recognized for her achievement at the closing session, which was the final highlight of the fall leadership conference.
The Fall Leadership conference left HOSA members anticipating the State Leadership Conference in March.
