College Football Game of the Week – Week 6

QB Kenny Hill will lead the Horned Frogs against the Mountaineers

The game of the week is going to take place in Fort Worth Texas as the TCU Horned Frogs play the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Horned Frogs enter as the 11th best team in college football after an impressive win over the 6th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. West Virginia enters ranked 23 in the nation after a win over the Kansas Jayhawks. The matchup features two very high scoring offenses. The game will surely be a shootout.

TCU comes in as a heavy favorite with an 88% chance to win, according to ESPN’s football power index. TCU is lead by QB Kenny Hill, who transferred to TCU last year after playing with Texas A&M. He is having a very average season with 965 yards and 9 touchdowns. The running game has been impressive with Darius Anderson rushing for 422 yards. His best game of the year was against Oklahoma State where he rushed for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Horned Frogs will rely heavily on the run game against West Virginia. The Mountaineers have been abysmal stopping the run so expect a big day from Anderson. TCU’s defense will have the tough task of slowing down West Virginia. The Frogs have done a fantastic job slowing down teams on offense. This game will be a test to see if TCU can be a legit contender for the college football playoffs.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are having a spectacular year on offense, but they have not played very good teams. They started off with a tough opponent in Virginia Tech and they have been on a roll since then. The offense is lead by QB Will Grier, who used to play for the Florida Gators during his Freshman year. Grier is having his best season with 1,374 yards and 13 touchdowns. West Virginia’s RB, Justin Crawford, is having a very similar season to TCU’s Darius Anderson. Crawford is rushing for 451 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Mountaineers will be faced with the task of stopping the Horned Frogs from extending drives. The Frogs have done a supreme job in keeping opposing offenses on the sideline by having their offense on the field. They are 11th in the country when it comes to time of possession. The Mountaineers have won their games by scoring fast and early. If they are not on the field then they cannot score which will be an issue as they are not good at trying to catch up to other teams.

Both teams will be locked into an offensive battle as both teams are averaging over 40 points per game. The Horned Frogs are gonna rely heavily on their running game to drain the Mountaineers’ energy on defense. West Virginia hopes to get their offense on the field as they want to prove themselves as a contender and not a pretender. This will be their first true test as the last three wins they have had were against easy opponents. The teams will both try to prove that they are legit players for the Big 12 championship game.
