Boys and Girls Basketball Fall in the Sweet Sixteeen
Both Lambert Basketball teams made it to the second round of state as they were fighting for their chance at the state championship. The boys advanced after beating Mill Creek and the girls advanced after beating Mill Creek as well.
The girls team went against the Newton Rams. Both teams were very close in the first half as they went into the locker rooms with Newton on top 18-16. The Rams came out with authority as they outscored the lady longhorns 20-6 in the third quarter. Lambert did try and mount a strong comeback, but they could not complete it as they fall 45-40.
The boys team played against the Meadowcreek Mustangs. The Longhorns came out dull as they could not get into a rhythm and Meadowcreek was really clicking throughout the game. The game was very tight midway through the forth, but Lambert was not able to close the gap as the Mustangs won the game 56-47. Both teams had a very strong season as the teams will look to bounce back with some new faces. They hope to get over the hump and advance past the sweet sixteen. Great season boys and girls!
