Lambert athletics secure titles
April has been a wildly successful month for the state of Lambert athletics, as region championships have been brought home by the Girls (who are #1 in the state) and Boys Soccer teams and the Baseball team. A county title and a region title were won by the Boys Track team while the Girls Track team placed second at the region meet, the Boys Lacrosse team won an Area title, the Boys and Girls Tennis teams are entering the State Playoffs, the Boys and Girls Golf teams are preparing to compete in their Area Tournaments, the Ultimate Frisbee team is in the state playoffs, and the Gymnastics team placed second at the state championship.
At the time of this publication, the Lambert Athletics Department as a whole has lassoed in ten region titles, which is by far the most titles won by a county school this school year; the 2nd place school is South Forsyth with four region titles.
Lambert’s dominance in athletics is nothing new; each of the past two school years, the Longhorns Athletic Department has won the Director’s Cup for the Best Athletic Department in the state for AAAAAA. As of right now, the Longhorns are currently in first place to win the award in the newly created Class AAAAAAA (also, as of the time of this publication, the Longhorns have accrued the most points of any athletic department in the state). If Lambert stays atop the leader board at the conclusion of the school year, Lambert will be recognized as the top athletic department in its classification for the third straight school year, firmly establishing itself as one of the top programs in the state, if it has not already.
All of the aforementioned teams have either won or competed for state championships in the past, so each of these programs are familiar with and geared up for success. If these programs successes in region/area play this season are any indication, it would not come as a surprise for more Lambert Longhorns to bring home State Titles this year.
