Throughout the year, the Lambert yearbook staff is busy making a book that will capture the best moments of the school year and preserve the memories for years to come. From taking pictures to interviewing students to creating and designing the pages, the team works hard to create a yearbook everyone will love.
Staff member Abby Barrett explains that the yearbook staff members do a lot of important work that elevates the quality of the yearbook.
“We take pictures, do interviews and write the body text for the spreads,” Barrett said. “Our editors plan and review everything.”
One of her favorite parts of being on the team is connecting with a lot of different people within the yearbook class.
“I love having the opportunity to bond with so many different people,” Barrett shared. “Our class is small, so I get to talk to everyone.”
Sarah Mui, a second year staff member, shares a similar feeling and enjoys the process of creating a book filled with so many great memories from the school year.
“At the start of the year, the book is blank,” Mui said. “As we work, it comes together and turns into a collection of memories from the year.”
Sarah does a lot of detailed work on each spread, such as taking pictures, organizing them and writing captions. She uses a color-coded Google Calendar to keep track of everything which helps her stay organized and on track for meeting her deadlines successfully.
“I plan ahead to know when events are happening, so I can take the best pictures,” Mui explained.
The yearbook staff has to stay on top of deadlines that the editors create and make sure everything is done on time. Since they have to get all of the pages finished and ready to be sent out to the printers on March 17.
“At the beginning of the year, our editors set a timeline for all the spreads, so we know when everything needs to be finished,” Barrett said.
Mui also works with a partner to keep everything on track, all staff members have a partner to work with on their spreads. This aids collaborative thinking and meeting deadlines.
“My partner, Emaline Dupree and I manage our time each day and week to stay on track for the book’s completion,” Mui shared.
Even though creating the yearbook is a lot of work, the staff finds it extremely rewarding.
“I hope every student is able to see how amazing the yearbook looks and see themselves or their activities represented in the book,” Barrett explained.
Like Barrett, Mui also hopes that the Lambert students and staff love the yearbook that they have worked so hard to create.
“I hope everyone loves looking through each page and continues to support the yearbook as much as I do,” Mui agreed.
While they can’t reveal much about the theme or new features of this year’s yearbook yet, both Abby Barrett and Sarah Mui say there’s something exciting coming including a diverse selection of photos and memories.
Barrett is especially proud of crafting a spread that highlights students who have done exceptional things.
“It includes so many students who’ve gone above and beyond, and I’m happy to see them get recognition,” Barrett said.
The yearbook team is excited for everyone to see the final product of their hard work throughout this year. and is sure the 2024-2025 yearbook will be full of memories that everyone will cherish.
