Cute Animal of the Week
Every week we will choose one lucky creature to be featured as the “Cute Animal of the Week” and our next winner is the Pink Fairy Armadillo!
Fun facts about the Pink Fairy Armadillo:
- The Pink Fairy Armadillo is the smallest, known Armadillo species; their body length can range from 90 to 115 millimeters
- The shell’s pink hue comes from underlying blood vessels
- Their shell is more used for thermoregulation than protective armor because of how fragile it is
- Their huge claws cause them to struggle walking on hard surfaces, so they dig instead and stay about 6 inches underneath the ground while returning to the surface for only a few moments
