While most students at Lambert are busy balancing school and social life, freshman Anya Kazi is running her business, “The Blooming Artistry.” Kazi has been designing and producing custom items like notebooks, planners, water bottles and tumblers since she received a Cricut machine, a tool that creates vinyl decals for personal items, as a gift when she was 12.
“After I got used to [making mugs and other items], I was like, ‘Okay, I’m doing really good, let’s turn this into a business,’” Kazi explained.
Kazi is part of the marketing pathway at Lambert and particularly enjoys promotion and advertising. This aspect has helped her grow her business and entrepreneurship.
“I’m going to take the promotions part [of marketing pathway]…because it would be better for my skill set…I feel I am better at being creative,” Kazi said.
Kazi has been promoting her business on social media platforms like Instagram, since opening and uses the platform to announce new designs, and showcase her orders to customers.
She is also a part of the Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) which has helped her learn how to promote her business and manage her social media accounts. Aside from DECA, she is also an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Muslim Student Association (MSA) and Lambert’s Key Club chapter, a volunteering organization. She uses her skills and knowledge from these organizations to add to her business, by using marketing strategies learned from FBLA, and advocates for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Kazi uses “The Blooming Artistry” not only for business purposes, but also to create personalized gifts for her friends and family. Her business is an outlet for her imagination, and she sets a great example for others to utilize their skills to pursue their goals. Since the start of freshman year, she has slowed down her production in favor of prioritizing school, but she plans to pick her business back up and reach new heights.
