People around the world use entertainment media to escape their day-to-day lives. Actors and actresses give people comfort in a world that is often stressful and constantly changing. Madeline Hansen is one of these actresses that shines not only on stage, but also in her daily life.
Madeline is only a sophomore at Lambert High School, but has made herself known. Recognized as an extremely talented singer and actor, Madeline has already taken many lead roles in the Acting Troupe of Lambert (ATL).
For Madeline singing and acting has been with her as long as she can remember.
“I started doing a little bit of voice lessons when I was around six and then when I was nine there was a little community theater that was doing a musical over the summer,” Madeline said. “It was Beauty and the Beast Jr. and that was the first show I ever done.”
When Madeline first took the stage that year she only had three lines, but even that small taste of performance developed into a life-long passion. After that Madeline continued to work on an abundance of different shows and performances, slowly and deliberately improving her talents.
When Madeline started acting for ATL last year, she was blown away by the talent and dedication exhibited by everyone in the organization.
“Everyone in the program is super duper talented and so it’s awesome,” Madeline said.
This semester Madeline is starring as Hucklebee in ATL’s One Act “The Fantasticks.” Madeline has high hopes for this act as last year ATL’s One Act “Tuck Everlasting” won the region and Madeline won “Best Actress” at state competition.
With these achievements in hand, Madeline went on to make her name known nationally as she competed in the CS Music competition in San Francisco for musical theater. She worked extremely hard to perfect her performance and won third place in the nation.
Looking into the future, Madeline hopes to continue her theater journey and eventually perform on Broadway.
“I would love to be able to play a role on Broadway,” Madeline said. “I think that’d be a really exciting thing to do.”
As for advice for anyone thinking about pursuing theater, Madeline strongly believes in taking every opportunity you can.
“You should never not do an audition because you never know how it’s going to end,” Madeline said.
Madeline’s talent as both an actress and a singer radiates positivity and warmth, leaving an impact on everyone around her. She will continue to shine both on and off stage as she pursues her passion.
