Ever since first grade, lacrosse has been Megan Snyder’s favorite after school activity. Following in the footsteps of her two older brothers, Snyder loves lacrosse, and it has always been a crucial part of her life. She is currently playing for the Varsity Lacrosse Team at Lambert, as well as two other club teams. With her love for the game and hard work, Snyder keeps on pushing and getting better every season. The durability and dedication are what make all the difference at games and scrimmages for the team.
“Just putting in that effort and teamwork can carry a team a really long way,” Snyder said. “Always just pushing, pushing for the best for us for the rest of the season.”
Lacrosse is similar to many field sports played at Lambert but with some unique parts as well, such as the style of the game and the equipment. Snyder feels that the major differentiating factor between lacrosse and other sports is the mental game with certain tactics played while out on the field.
“Girls’ lacrosse is different from other sports and sometimes even boys’ lacrosse because of the thinking and the technique of the game,” Snyder said.
On a personal level, Snyder appreciates the team aspect of lacrosse and the family-like atmosphere of the Lambert team.
“I just really like the aspect of building relationships on the team and our team traditions,” Snyder said. “Games with them are also fun especially when we win, and it’s really hype.”
Snyder hopes to continue her lacrosse journey at the University of Georgia’s intramural club team, and she wants Longhorns to keep in mind that dedication and resilience are keys to success in lacrosse and any other endeavor they choose to go through.
“With any sport, it can feel like a lot, but the bond of the team makes it so worth it,” Snyder said.
Snyder is looking forward to having her best season yet as a varsity captain this year, and she will always cherish the memories that the sport has given her.
