From one stage to another, Norah Reilly is no stranger to the spotlight. Whether it be for acting or playing violin, Reilly loves being a part of the musical arts. She began acting when she was five, following in her older sister’s footsteps by joining the Forsyth Academy of Performing Arts (FAPA) for musical theater.
“I remember walking out of one of her shows and telling my mom that I really want to do that,” Reilly recalled.
Since then, she has been performing at the Forsyth Academy and has landed many roles such as Miss Honey in “Matilda,” Regina George in “Mean Girls,” Wednesday Addams in “The Addams Family” and most recently Lydia in “Beetlejuice”. To Reilly, the stage is a place for her and her peers to enjoy their time.
“You’re just a different person, you get to forget about the things that stress you out and just get to be yourself,” Reilly explained.
Aside from musical theater, Reilly also has a passion for the violin. With over 11 years of experience and many awards, she is very dedicated to the violin. This summer, she is performing at the Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF), a four week long music program with opportunities for student musicians to be educated and perform with the world renowned Philadelphia Orchestra. She has also previously performed at the New England Conservatory Camp in Boston. Reilly has also been performing with her orchestra, George Youth Symphony Orchestra, for seven years and continues to show her commitment to music.
Reilly has aspirations to pursue a career in musical theater, with plans to take any audition she can get and do her best. She also hopes to become a conductor for the Air Force’s orchestra to keep her love for music a part of her life. While pursuing musical endeavors through high school is rare nowadays, but Reilly continues to show her dedication and commitment to the arts.
