Lambert’s halls have been filled with wacky costumes, colorful door decorations and talk of homecoming proposals, leaving no doubt that Lambert’s LALO Fest (also known as homecoming) is approaching. LALO Fest will take place on October 4th, in the gym parking lot, and its theme of The Greatest Show on Turf (Carnival) has left many students and staff curious for what surprises this dance will hold. Lambert’s Student Council (STUCO) has been working hard planning for homecoming and is eager to share their plans for the dance.
STUCO’s focus for the homecoming dance this year was to create a more interactive and exciting experience for Lambert’s students. This led to their decision to choose Carnival as the homecoming theme.
“Carnival was what made the most sense, and seemed the most fun for spirit week and for Homecoming,” Spirit Committee Executive Paige Young noted. “It was something we could have more decorations and activities for in comparison with last year’s Disco theme, where it was hard to create related Homecoming activities.”
The Student Council plans to bring Carnival related activities like ring toss and face paint to homecoming. They also plan to include foods you’d find at a carnival like popcorn and cotton candy to bring more fun to the event.
STUCO has also brought back the homecoming proposal social media challenge after last year’s high participation rate. To enter the competition, students can film their homecoming proposals and submit them to the challenge, and have a chance to win a prize.
“The winners will both get free homecoming tickets,” Aerin Macatula, a part of STUCO’s HOCO planning committee, explained.
STUCO hopes to promote LALO Fest on social media through this competition, and encourage students to be extra creative with asking out their dates this year.
Many popular activities from homecoming last year are also back again, such as song suggestions for the DJ. The song suggestions will be done through a google form sent out before the dance. The photobooth will also be back again this year, as well as the food trucks.
Homecoming 2025 will be a combination of new and old, bringing back all the best elements from the past mixed with new surprises. STUCO hopes this dance will be an unforgettable event for all of its attendees, so make sure to come to this year’s homecoming dance!
