As the largest chapter in the region, Lambert’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club attended the 2017 state conference this past weekend in Athens, Georgia.
Starting on March 16 and ending on the 18th, students competed in various events that ranged from culinary arts to interpersonal communications. Students were able to demonstrate the key values of FCCLA: leadership, character, and commitment to serve their families and communities.
Lambert student and FCCLA competitor Abbey Darwin viewed the conference as a “really cool” experience as she was around leaders and officers “from all over the state” and heard a great presentation from Kevin Laue. She explained that getting 3rd for Chapter Service Project made both her and her partner “extremely happy” considering all the “time spent working on the project and and researching and finding information.”
As the largest chapter in the region, it was no surprise that Lambert FCCLA represented themselves as well as they did. Out of the twenty competitors, thirteen students placed in the top 3; towards the end of the competition, Abbey concluded that “all the hard work had paid off.”
