Lambert Student Council is finishing the year off strong, following another successful semester with events such as a new homecoming parade to build school spirit and Trunk or Treat to help the community bond.. The club currently has five committees overseeing managing different parts of the Lambert and working on events. From community service to health and wellness, Lambert Student Council is ready to finish this semester strong.
Junior Class President Niyathi Nalluri is proud of their ongoing food drive in partnership with National Honor Society (NHS)
“With the can food drive, we are trying to instill some kind of school spirit because the top 20 donors get a pizza party, so it’s just a fun little way to put some competition in,” Nalluri said.
Student Council hopes that the food drive will boost school morale through the last couple weeks of the semester and encourage Longhorns to contribute to their community.
Nalluri has been Class President for the past three years and has grown and learned about working with people and organizing events through Student Council. The club has helped her achieve her goal of being remembered as someone who inspires students to be active and involved at Lambert.
“It’s very important to talk to every single one of your officers…learning how to work with a ton of different people and knowing where the assignments belong is a challenge because you have to keep everything in mind,” Nalluri added.
Student Council Advisor Laura Goode is so proud of the semester they have had, especially with it being her first year in the position. Goode has been dedicated to the club with her main goal being helping the students become the best versions of themselves. The club has helped her see her students in a different light and loves seeing what the club enables them to do.
“I’ve learned that [the students] enjoy opportunities to bring their skills to do different activities, and kids really want to make their school better,” Goode added.
Goode is enthusiastic about giving guidance to students and helping them elevate themselves and Lambert.
“I hope that student council gives kids a place where they can really develop their leadership skills and work as a team,” Goode said.
As the students and advisors grow into the second semester, Student Council has been an essential part of Lambert this semester and Lambert cannot wait to see what they do next.
