Over the course of the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, Lambert clubs have started to add more easygoing events in response to student stress. For students, the pressure is especially high in the month of December as midterm exams are coming up.
While most clubs simply host these events on their own, HOSA decided to create a subcommittee specifically for this task. According to HOSA’s Lieutenant Officer Chloe Jang, students should have access to relaxing club activities amidst the pressures of other extracurricular events and competitions.
“We have a lot of drives and serious opportunities,” Jang explained. “But our Workshop Subcommittee really wanted to do something fun and easygoing for our members to participate in.”
These new additions are representing how club culture has shifted from being just an extracurricular activity to making accommodations for student support.
December is notorious for combining the overall stress from taking tests and quizzes and the stress of midterm exams. With midterm stress taking such a big toll on so many students, it is recommended to do activities that are enjoyable and relieving.
The HOSA Workshop Subcommittee is just a small part of a larger initiative to support students during these times. It isn’t just HOSA that’s taking on this task. Other clubs, like DECA and Model UN have also hosted meetings that are for students to enjoy. With Lambert’s clubs comforting their members during this stressful period, students can hope for a much better test taking environment.
