As the school year comes to an end, Lambert is jumping through its final hoop of grades and exams. The 2024-2025 school year was full of ups and downs for both students and teachers, but it was a learning experience for all.
For many, this was a year of exploration. From joining new clubs to being in a class where one doesn’t know anyone, many students took chances to find new interests and interact with other like minded students. As freshman Gianna Ashford reflected on the past year, she advised people to be more outgoing and open to opportunities.
“Don’t be afraid to get involved,” Ashford said. “Do clubs, talk to people and do things that are outside your comfort zone. That’s where you’ll discover what you really enjoy doing.”
School is not just a place for learning, it is also a place to meet new friends and socialize. At Lambert, there are lots of after-school activities. Especially during the beginning of the school year, when football season is in full swing, there are multiple opportunities for students to get together and bond with their peers. Sophomore Gabby Ortlep looks back fondly on these precious moments between her and her friends.
“The football games were so much fun,” Ortlep noted. “The best part was getting ready with my friends for games and matching the themes each night, which really made the year unforgettable and provided a chance for me to hangout with my friends from Lambert and other schools.”
This was a memorable year for not just students, but also teachers. Many first year teachers were left with a feeling of inclusion in the Lambert community. Deborah Wallace, an Advanced Algebra teacher, found her first year at Lambert to be a refreshing experience.
“I had great students and great colleagues,” Ms. Wallace explained. “I couldn’t have asked for a better first year back to teaching after taking a long time off, so I think this year was a really good choice for me to come back to teaching.”
Lambert saw a lot of changes, as well. The Lambert Student Council started a new tradition of Senior field Day to celebrate the graduation of seniors and allow for a moment of relaxation after college applications. More students were involved in Homecoming this year, which Principal Amanda Thrower had provided insight on.
“I loved the homecoming parade,” Ms. Thrower said. “It was great having our feeder Elementary and middle schools on campus to get them excited about coming to Lambert. And it was just great to see our kids having such a great time.”
The year was filled with accomplishments, challenges and fun. Looking into the summer, Lambert is excited to go into a well-deserved break before the upcoming school year.
