One of the most revered elementary school pastimes is the tradition of field day—gathering outside with friends and classmates to take part in competitive activities. As high school wraps up for the class of 2025, Lambert’s Student Council is seeking to recapture the magic of field day in a special event for the first time on March 25.
“[Seniors] were looking for something fun to do to add to senior activities,” Student Council Junior Class President Niyu Nalluri said.
With seniors facing academic challenges and the stress of final college decisions, the idea was to give seniors an opportunity to have some fun with their classmates and create lasting memories.
While the idea may have been initiated by the senior class, the task of organizing and implementing the event has been mostly delegated to the junior and underclassmen members of Student Council. The group is also responsible for other senior related events, such as Senior Sunrise in August and Senior Sunset in May.
While the full slate of activities has yet to be revealed, favorites such as tug-of-war and parachute will be among the options for participants. In addition, awards for winning groups are up for grabs. As another incentive, the Student Council is also running a competition for whatever team has the ‘best swag’. Students from Sharon Forks Elementary School are also planned to be in attendance as part of a soon-to-be-revealed activity.
“We wanted to leave [seniors] with something fun to do that brought them back to their elementary school selves,” Nalluri mentioned.
It’s not often that Lambert students get to take some time off during an especially busy time of year. Fortunately, seniors can look forward to this special event and get ready to finish off their high school career.
