Ever since Crumbl Cookies opened in 2017, they have gone viral for their soft, flavorful cookies. Their rotating menu includes six different flavors every week, leading to people routinely buying the latest selection. Crumbl has taken the world by storm, receiving thousands, if not millions of compliments on their famous cookies from people around the world. However, are their cookies truly worth buying?
The eccentric and crazy flavors that Crumbl may offer intrigues customers constantly.
“They change things up so it’s not the same thing and it’s not boring,” Lambert junior Samanvi Vegesna expresses. The changes to the flavor menu “keep things interesting.”
Many customers make it a point to go to Crumbl every week to try their new flavors and then post videos such as hauls and mukbangs on social media, influencing the audience to purchase Crumbl Cookies.
Nevertheless, even though Crumbl Cookies are known for their variety of flavors, many consider them to be too sweet — too much sugar makes them hard to eat. Additionally, since the cookies are much larger than average, critics of Crumbl explain that the larger portion size makes it difficult to finish the cookie they bought.
“The cookies are basically uncooked…. and unless you specifically want really sweet and cakey cookies, for most people it’s really sweet,” Lambert sophomore Joanita Clarie noted.
Most of the time, the cookies are baked very quickly, which causes the cookies to be undercooked and even be considered too crumbly. Even if the cookies taste amazing, the quality of the dough after being baked matters too. If the cookies are underbaked and can’t hold their shape, there’s no point in buying them.
Additionally, the cookies are typically very pricey, with a 6 pack costing $22.99. Comparatively, another cookie business, Insomnia Cookies, has much lower prices. They also have many unique flavors, such as their current seasonal cookies, Cookies N’ Scream, Apple Cider Donut and more. Compared to Crumbl, a six pack at Insomnia is only 15.25, which is more than 33 percent cheaper. Some may argue Crumbl is only so expensive because the cookies are much bigger but even then, they are typically too large for one person to finish.
“Buying a large cake is the equivalent of buying a box of Crumbl Cookies,” Clarie adds.
While the cookies are generously sized, that alone doesn’t justify pricing them almost as high as a cake. Moreover, if the quality of the cookie is not up to par, then buying such an expensive cookie may not be a good investment for potential customers.
Crumbl’s rise to fame has made it an iconic part of Gen-Z culture. However, even if Crumbl’s wide variety of distinctive flavors is rated highly, the disappointing quality and steep prices doesn’t make it worth the buy.
