Acclaimed rapper Drake’s new album “For All The Dogs” is finally releasing on October 6 after months of speculation and wait by fans. Teased as early as January 2023, it was officially confirmed a day after the artist announced his new book, “Titles Ruin Everything.” According to Drake, the album is meant to be paired in tandem with said book, meaning fans can get a double dose of his lyrical genius upon the album’s release next month. “For All The Dogs” features six tracks in collaboration with renowned artists like Nicki Minaj, SZA, Bad Bunny and others, predicting it to be one of the highest-performing albums of the year.
“I feel like [Drake’s] new album is going to be something all music lovers can enjoy and bond over,” Lambert junior Samanyu Badam said.
Drake’s diversity of artist features coupled with his characteristic style and delivery have many fans excited to experience this blending of musical ideas. His teaser track from the album, “Slime You Out” with SZA, has already garnered close to 3 million views on his YouTube channel – hinting at the potential success to come of his new release. It also highlights the adaptability of Drake’s music to a variety of different styles and audiences, proving time and again why he is one of the biggest names in the industry.
Another major talking point of Drake’s incoming release is the album’s cover art, which was done by his five-year-old son, Adonis Graham. Adonis was kept out of the public eye by Drake and his mother, French artist and former model Sophie Brussaux, for his first three years due to concerns for his privacy. However, Adonis’s celebrity status has since skyrocketed with numerous father-son appearances and interviews thrusting him into internet stardom. The album cover’s release on Instagram only furthered this phenomenon with the post receiving over 4 million likes in just one month. The artwork made the album even more special for many listeners, as they were able to get a glimpse into Drake’s relationship with his son and his role as a father.
“A lot of celebrities nowadays make headlines for bad reasons, but it’s nice to see a contrast with Drake caring for his son,” Lambert junior Sanjay Shanmuga said.
While many rappers glorify drugs, alcohol and gang violence in their songs, Drake’s role as a father figure helps defy the negative reputation that the genre often receives. Many of his more recent songs mention Adonis as well as Drake’s journey into fatherhood, presenting a welcome change from the themes usually associated with rap music. How this change will be exemplified in his upcoming album is something that will be watched by music lovers and Adonis’s growing legion of fans alike.
“For All The Dogs” has all the makings of a groundbreaking album, from its diverse cast of musicians to its links with Adonis and Drake’s fatherhood and a successful start with “Slime You Out.” Despite the long road of speculation and waiting, the new release promises to be worth the wait for Drake’s dedicated fanbase. The album is set to release this Friday on all major platforms, and until then, it’s just a little longer before fans go crazy over “For All The Dogs.”
