Capping off a 13th straight winning season, Lambert’s Boys Basketball team ended with a game against Berkmar High School last month. The season included many upsets and strong performances from Lambert’s team, including impressive wins against region rivals Denmark and Forsyth Central High School.
Despite having a winning record, the season proved to be a challenge for the team. They suffered some heartbreaking losses this year including a region tournament defeat to Milton High School, but they returned stronger after each.
“We are most proud of how we bounced back from our losses,” Lambert junior and team member Tarun Kilaru said. “One example that comes to mind was our loss against Milton at the region championship…it was tough getting that far in the tournament and losing, but we knew to keep persevering.”
Much of the team’s time was spent shaping up a new roster. The team faced a “rebuild year” following the departure of many seniors last year.
“Our plan is to get better individually and come together as a team,” Tarun explained. “[the] goal is to come together as a more mature team and win a regional championship.”
As with any other high school sport, there’s always an opportunity to bounce back the next season with an improved roster and more experienced players.
