Lambert’s boys soccer team has had an excellent season so far, with a perfect 6-0 region record and strong wins against out-of-state opponents. The team currently boasts a +22 goal differential and has secured the region title against Alpharetta High School.
Junior Caleb Fraser has stepped into a new role as team manager this year. As manager, he helps to organize practices and assist coaches on a day-to-day basis. In addition, he keeps track of team stats to help players and staff keep track of their goals and team objectives.
“My main reason for wanting to help out with the team is because of the relationships that I have with some of the players and how much of an impact the sport has had on my life,” Fraser said.
As a former player-turned manager, the opportunity for Fraser has allowed him to take on a different role than previous years, shifting away from playing on the field to helping others be their best. At each practice, he notes how much he and his teammates strive to get better every day.
“We look to improve by practicing things…that we need to get better at, and none of the players give up, which shows the drive they have to constantly improve,” Fraser added.
Junior Liam Fanning has been playing soccer ever since he was young. Now, as a varsity forward at Lambert, his contributions have expanded with his seniority . In his play, he emphasizes how well the whole team can work together to deliver on their combined goals through constant teamwork, practice and discipline.
“We go by the philosophy of ‘winning forever’,” Fanning noted. “Winning is important, but it comes from the little things like staying focused, getting full effort and trusting each other.”
With a majority of the regular season wrapped up, games against classic region rivals such as South Forsyth have been a highlight for both Fraser and Fanning.
“One of my favorite moments this year is definitely beating South Forsyth in region play,” Fanning said. “It really showed our team’s desire for the game and what it truly meant to every single one of us.”
As the Longhorns march through the rest of their season and into the playoffs, the future is in their hands. The team is hoping to win their fifth state title and first since 2023, solidifying their record as one of Lambert’s most successful and longstanding sports programs.
