Lambert Girls Basketball is in the midst of a strong season as they turn heads and make big moves at every game. The team is currently 15-6 and their region record is 9-2.
As the season progresses, girls all-time leading scorer Annarose Tyre believes that the team gets better every game thanks to a new head coach and a strong team bond on and off the court.
“Our team chemistry has actually never been like this before,” Tyre said. “We are actually so close as a team.”
This cohesiveness as a team on the court can be explained by the girls’ team bonding off the court – whether it be post-game hangouts or bus rides to away games. These precious moments help the team unwind and get to know each other better.
Tyre is graduating this year and has committed to play at West Florida University.
The commitment process was definitely challenging with numerous offers and visits, but she is so happy to have found her perfect place.
“The visiting was the biggest thing to feel like what it was like to be at their campuses and around their people and coaches,” Tyre mentioned.
As she prepares to graduate, Tyre has some last pieces of advice to her teammates on how to succeed and become the best they can be.
“Work hard every single day, because you’ll never know when your time will come,” Tyre emphasized.
Senior Kenzie Weyer, who recently hit 1000 points, knows a lot about hard work and grit as basketball has been an integral part of her life since second grade.
Since then, the sport has helped her become more confident and a team-player.
“Three words to describe my basketball career are developmental, fun and memorable,” Weyer added.
Weyer is not pursuing basketball at the collegiate level but is determined to make the most of her last season and enjoy every moment with her team. As she gets ready to prepare for college and focus on academics, she is thankful for the time management skills that playing basketball has given her off the court.
“I would kind of just try to get all my school work done during the day in class… so I could focus on practice after school,” Weyer said. “Obviously sometimes you have to sacrifice late nights sometimes just to study and get it done.”
The girls have truly given it their all throughout their time playing at Lambert, and as they finish off their last season at Lambert, the school wishes them the best of luck for their future.
The Lambert Girls Basketball team has their Senior Night against South Forsyth High School on February 4 ,and they hope to win and dominate the rest of the season.
