Junior Sophia Hall, a goalie for Lambert Girls Lacrosse, has officially committed to Coastal Carolina University (CCU) to continue her lacrosse career at the collegiate level. Her decision to commit comes after a long journey that included hard work, discipline and support from her loved ones.
“I chose CCU because it checked all of my boxes and more,” Hall said. “I fell in love with the campus, the coaches are amazing, they have excellent academic support for the team and my teammates are all so nice. It just felt like the right place for me.”
Throughout her athletic journey, family and faith have played a big role in her success.
“My biggest support has been God and my parents,” Hall shared. “Without God, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I trust that He led me exactly where I needed to go. My parents have made so many sacrifices to help me pursue what I love, and I will always be grateful for them.”
When it comes to working toward her goals as an athlete, she emphasized how crucial discipline and consistency has been in her journey through sports and life.
“There have been times when I just wanted to stay home, but I know that if I don’t work, someone else out there is getting better,” Hall explained. “It’s not always easy, but after pushing through I always feel better and see improvement.”
The commitment process is not easy and requires a lot of time and hard work from the athletes. Sophia Hall shares how time was one of her biggest sacrifices because that includes missing events and time with friends and family.
“I spent so much time playing lacrosse during the recruiting summer that I didn’t have much time for anything else, but looking back it was all worth it,” Hall said.
Not only does the commitment process cost a lot of time, but it can also include a mental battle with comparison.
”It’s easy to compare your journey to others, but everyone’s path is different,” Hall noted. “I had to remind myself that my opportunity was out there, and I just had to trust the process.”
Hall shared good advice for other athletes hoping to play at the collegiate level.
“Trust the process and don’t compare yourself to anyone else,” Hall shared. “Be yourself, because coaches want to know you for who you are, not someone else.”
With Sophia Hall’s commitment to Coastal Carolina University, she is excited for this new chapter in her lacrosse career and the opportunities that lie ahead.
