Lambert Gymnastics kicked off their season in the last week of January. The girls are excited to have their best season yet and finish off strong this April.
The team secured first place at the county meet last season and strives to work hard to have a great season. Their training is difficult with conditioning and after-school practices, but the team pushes through to grow and thrive as a team.
“We train every week for two hours, and we work each of our events,” Lambert junior Katelyn Gallagher shared.
Gymnastics requires physical and mental strength when competing and practicing. Each girl will compete in an event such as floor, vault, beam and bars. The girls compete individually to earn an individual score, each of which is added to an overall team score. Although they compete individually, their focus is always on the team’s collective success.
The team has grown closer together over the years by competing in club gymnastics and at school. The girls also love supporting each other throughout the season.
“We have known each other for many years, and we always cheer for our teammates and encourage each other at every practice,” Gallagher said.
The team has crafted a tight bond, allowing them to compete at a higher level and encourage each other through challenging meets.
“The hardest competition is county since we compete against all schools in Forsyth County, so we have to work especially hard to place high,” Gallagher noted.
Currently, the team is driven to win the county championship, and they are working hard to improve their skills. Their team chemistry drives their performance as a whole to be better each week.
