Lambert Softball is starting off their season and hoping for another great one.
Coming off of a strong season last year, which included a state championship victory, the team has been working on ways they can be better players for the team. Along with that, the team is working hard at practices and analyzing their games.
“As a team we are just really focusing when it comes to game time to see what we need to work on,” varsity right outfield player Avery Cole said.
The team is hoping to do as well as they did last season despite losing eight seniors, but the team gained ten new freshmen this year. With these freshmen filling in the spots of the alumni, the team is trying out different positions and trying to put each player where they can best succeed.
“I’d say we have a really good shot at being as good as we were last year,” Cole said.
One of the players’ favorite things about the team is the family atmosphere and bonding.
“We are together six out of the seven days a week and that really just makes us feel like a family,” Cole said.
This year, the team took a weekend trip to Carrollton, Georgia for a tournament and it was a good team bonding experience because they had a lot of fun. This made the team feel even closer. The team had a great time at Carrollton and Cole is most looking forward to the Denmark High School game on October 1, 2024.
“They are probably our best competition that we will see,” Cole said. “We just love to play good teams because it makes the game more exciting.”
From switching up positions to perform their best, the team lifting each other up and learning from each of their games, softball is on track to having another strong season. Lambert is very excited to support the softball team throughout the rest of their season!
