The Acting Troupe of Lambert (ATL) is excited to announce their next upcoming project, “The Fantasticks”. The show will be premiering From October 12 to October 14.
Based on the original 1960 musical by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the story focuses on the romance between a young couple who go through many challenges such as their feuding families and other interfering situations.
The cast features Lambert Students Camery Bennet as Louisa, and Roger Wang as Matt, the main protagonists of the play. The supporting cast also features Matt’s mother and Louisa’s father, played by Madeline Hanson and John Kuchinski respectively.
“Typical story, boy meets girl boy loses girl, boy gets girl, right,” Lambert Theater Director Sabrina Lloyd said. “But it’s all about sort of what happens in reality and the pressures of wanting to be your own person, but also wanting to love. The pressures of wanting to please your family, but also be your own person.”
“The Fantasticks” will feature around 20 performed songs, according to Mrs. Lloyd. Despite its extensive list and quality, they have only been in production for two months.
Because of the small period of time to prepare, the schedule has been extremely tight, so much so that auditions were hosted the first week of school to keep a steady production timeline.
“I always find casting and all the work before is just the hardest stuff to do,” Lloyd commented. “I always had to coordinate the props, and the scene design and getting the build on schedule.”
Despite this short amount of time to prepare, The ATL will ensure a quality performance that will surpass expectations.
Be sure to check out the ATL at the Lambert Auditorium on October 12 to October 14 with its talented cast of individuals. Tickets will be available starting from September 25, so purchase them before they sell out!
