The Acting Troupe of Lambert (ATL) is preparing to stage a dynamic performance of “Madagascar Jr.,” running from March 6-8 and March 13-15 at the Lambert auditorium. Based on the Dreamworks animated film, the musical follows the story of Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo as they escape from New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on the wild shores of Madagascar. Along the way, they encounter an eccentric group of lemurs led by the carefree King Julien, embarking on a journey about freedom, friendship and self-discovery.
Since its release in 2005, “Madagascar” has left a lasting cultural impact, paving the way for multiple sequels, a spin-off series and even a dedicated fan base that continues to enjoy the franchise today.

“The highlight of the whole show is definitely performing ‘Together Forever’ because the song is so energetic, and it’s a great way to close the show,” dancer and sophomore Meenakshi Angara said. “It brings the whole cast together on stage, making the final scene unforgettable.”
The cast has embraced the challenge of bringing the animated world of “Madagascar” to life through a combination of dynamic movement and expressive performances. Each musical number offers a unique opportunity for the actors to showcase their versatility and talent on stage.
“As a dancer, I love being able to play different characters in each of the songs and bring them to life in new ways,” Angara said.
