With the National Football League (NFL) season around the corner, fans are thrilled to see what this new season has to offer. Intense tailgates, underdog stories and fantasy football complications are already starting to take off as fans start their yearly speculations. From big named stars–such as Micah Parsons-being traded, to new thematic jerseys and drawing comparisons, the NFL season is bound to be full of surprises and disappointments.
For Lambert football fans, it’s intriguing to envision which NFL franchise best resembles Lambert’s football team. Junior Cameron Vang, a football enthusiast, weighed in on the debate.
“I would say the Ravens,” Vang stated. “They’re a tough team with good players, but when they play teams in the playoffs they definitely fold under pressure and I think Lambert has a tendency to do that,” Vang explained..
Looking back to last year both teams, the Lambert Longhorns and the Baltimore Ravens, demonstrated strength during the regular season, however when it came to the playoffs, they couldn’t execute. The Ravens ended up losing 17-10 to the Chiefs in the playoffs, ultimately due to not being able to establish a consistent offense, the same issue with Lambert, who lost 37-27 against a tough Norcross football team. This year fans from both teams are expecting successful outcomes prior to last year as they continue to believe in their respective teams, even through tough droughts.
Adding on to the topic of fans, the NFL season leaves some Lambert fans divided: between loyalty to their hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons, or support for their rivals.
“I think it might be like 50% that are loyal Falcons Fans because you have to factor in the teachers and students who are not native to Georgia,” Vang proclaimed.
With a new and improved team, many people have high hopes for the Atlanta Falcons but the question remains, can they carry out expectations or will their rivals surpass them?
With the opening week on the horizon, fans are getting set in different ways —from tailgates or pre-game parties, to simply setting camp in front of the TV for kickoff.
“I’m probably going to have some of my friends over to watch the game,” Lambert junior Akili Mcleod, expressed.
For many, opening week means drinks, snacks, and culmination of anticipation for the Superbowl and yearly awards-even if it all happens on a TV.
Typically, most NFL fans care the most about the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, however another award that often goes under the radar is the Defensive Player of the Year award. This award is presented to the best defensive player in the whole league, regardless of their position or team. Last year, Patrick Surtain of the Denver Broncos won the award, being only the 7th cornerback to ever do so. McLeod believes there are many notable candidates for the award this year as the competition is high with new promising rookies and verified stars all racing to see who comes out on top.
“I think either Micah Parsons or TJ Watt is going to win it because Micah Parsons is on a new established defense…and TJ Watt has been bound to win Defensive player of the year for some time now,” McLeod proclaimed.
With new stars and established bonafide defensive players, Defensive Player of the Year is up for grabs for the 2025-26 NFL season.
Overall, the NFL season will be packed with excitement and Lambert fans are excited. With fans either being disappointed or satisfied, new players receiving annual awards and hopes rising up for a new Falcons season, this football season is going to be one for the record books.
