Alex Trabek, the host of “Jeopardy”, jokes about Betty White becoming the next “Jeopardy” host. While he is just joking, I wonder how a new host would affect ratings and how the 98-year-old actress would do in this iconic role.

How would Betty White affect ratings? After all, the show has been running since 1964, the current host has had the job since 1984. “Jeopardyis the second-highest-rated show out of all syndicated television shows. Syndicated shows are those that can be broadcasted on more than one network.

Betty White began her career on radio shows in the 1940s. White purchased a production company and starred in “Life with Elizabeth”. This began her career as supporting roles on sitcoms. Her most famous recurring roles being Sue Ann on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Mama’s Family,” and “The Love Boat”. The two shows she starred in were “The Betty White Show” (1977-1978) and “Golden Girls”(1985-1992).

White has been nominated for 21 Emmys and was the winner of five of them. “The Golden Girls” finale was one of the top twenty most-watched finales, raking in a whopping 27.2 million viewers.

There is no doubt in my mind that Betty White would be a good choice for Jeopardy host. White’s spectacular career combined with her experience on game shows such as “Password” makes her the perfect candidate for the show.
