“IUU fishing is a problem not many people know about or find important, but after exploring the topic in depth, I have found the potential disaster an illegal fishing vessel could create for both the environment and the economy. With this in mind, I wanted to clearly emphasize this issue by depicting it in my watercolor. With the bleeding sky, the looming ship, and the beautiful sea creatures netted and crying in the forefront, I hope to evoke a feeling of necessary action in the onlooker.” -Stephanie Tian
