Day In the Life of a Theater Kid
It is no secret that theater kids are some of the most hardworking individuals here at Lambert High School, but what exactly do their everyday lives look like?
When it comes to rehearsing, long hours aren’t just suggested; they are required. For the theater department to be as successful as it is, each student in the theater department must spend as much time as necessary to create the perfect show.
Madison Meinburg, a senior in the theater department, talks about what exactly goes into their incredible shows.
“When we do a dance rehearsal, then we learn choreography for a specific song, and it gets taught to us pretty quickly,” Madison explained. “If we are doing a music rehearsal, then we get split up into our sectionals [voice parts] and do a quick vocal warm-up, and then our music director will start going over music with each voice part in every song that ensemble sings in.”
These kids eat, sleep and breathe theater. Their schedules reflect that with the numerous fine arts that they elect to take.
Mason Nunes, another theater student, describes being a theater kid as getting to look forward to the next exciting project constantly. As soon as one show ends, they quickly transition into the next show.
Throughout the shows, these students not only get to have the time of their lives performing, but they also get to make lifelong connections.
“My favorite show I’ve been in is called ‘Spelling Bee ’and it was an interactive audience show,” Mason Nunes exclaimed. “It has a script and music to follow, but we could also have fun and make up our lines. It was the most perfect cast ever. We all loved each other and had such a good time.”
Anyone can see that these students revolve around the theater. They love it, and to put on shows that bring joy to the student is the added bonus.
