Why the Atlanta Falcons Are a Mess
During their 3 preseason NFL games, the Falcons have been decimated, losing to the Tennessee Titans 23-3, the Miami Dolphins 17-37 and the Cleveland Browns 19-10. Jumping forward, they are having a hard time maintaining a good record, which currently sits at 4-4.
While the Falcons have amassed a large fan following, their lack of performance has not been acceptable for many people. To put this into perspective, interviewee Shandon Sukumar, a 9th-grade football player here at Lambert, explained his viewpoint on this matter. Like many people, Sukumar has neither a full positive nor negative outlook on the Falcons, as he believes they have the potential to be good at the game. As of right now, he feels that they are just not performing to people’s expectations.
“The Falcons are [honestly] performing badly right now,” Sukumar stated.
Similarly, Timothy Mann, a 9th-grade football player here at Lambert, does not think that the Falcons are doing well to say the least. Mann explained what he believed to be the significant reasons why the Falcon’s performance is dwindling.
“Straight up honestly, getting rid of Julio Jones was a major mistake for the Falcons, and then Calvin Ridley not playing for mental issues and having Matt Ryan as the quarterback doesn’t make anything better,” Mann explained.
Unlike Sukumar, Mann thinks that key players such as Matt Ryan are not performing well, while Sukumar believes that Ryan is the best in the league. Also, Mann considers the head coach of the Falcons, Arthur Smith, a coach who makes bad decisions, which some people argue is not true.
Regardless of the Falcon’s performance, almost everyone can agree that there is always room for improvement.
“[If they] fill in their holes on their offense line and defense,” Mann concludes.
Essentially, he thinks their performance could have major improvements. Right plays by the coaches are also something that the majority of people can simultaneously agree on.
As of right now, the Falcons will be playing against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. Whether they win will set expectations fans will be having for the rest of the season.
