Time flies on Captiva Island

Being+on+an+island+is+like+being+in+a+whole+other+world%2C+Captiva+Island+especially.+The+island+has+a+magical+and+relaxing+feel+to+it+and+is+known+for+its+gorgeous+beaches+as+well+as+places+like+The+Mucky+Duck+and+The+Bubble+Room.+Once+you+reach+Captiva%2C+you+are+on+something+known+as+island+time.+%0AIsland+time+is+the+idea+that+when+you%E2%80%99re+on+an+island+time+passes+differently+than+it+does+day+to+day.+No+work%2C+no+stress%2C+just+sunsets+and+sunburns.+When+I+was+there%2C+I+woke+up+at+9+maybe+8+a.m.+at+the+earliest+and+didn%E2%80%99t+leave+the+complex+I+was+staying+at+usually+till+after+lunch.+I+took+stereotypical+long+walks+on+the+beach+with+my+phone+in+hand+capturing+the+island.%0A

Being on an island is like being in a whole other world, Captiva Island especially. The island has a magical and relaxing feel to it and is known for its gorgeous beaches as well as places like The Mucky Duck and The Bubble Room. Once you reach Captiva, you are on something known as island time. Island time is the idea that when you’re on an island time passes differently than it does day to day. No work, no stress, just sunsets and sunburns. When I was there, I woke up at 9 maybe 8 a.m. at the earliest and didn’t leave the complex I was staying at usually till after lunch. I took stereotypical long walks on the beach with my phone in hand capturing the island.

The resort I stayed at was rather large, 330 acres with over 2 miles of beach and 2 marinas, so every day I would try to walk around different areas. The first day I chose the marina that was closest to me; it was so close that you could see it from the balcony. The marina has restaurants, shops, and a boating school. I walked on a variety of docks, through palm tree lined streets, and almost saw a manatee. I even met a couple on the T-dock. We waved to each other but didn’t say anything as to not scare the fish away.
