Can We Expect Another Season of Wednesday?
Not long after its initial run, Netflix’s original hit series, “Wednesday”, is returning for a second season. The producers announced on January 6th that the series would have a revival, only a couple months after the ending of its first season.
The announcement of the show’s comeback was no surprise as it surpassed 1 billion views in less than a month, and sparked numerous social media trends.
The Netflix original features Jenna Ortega playing Wednesday Addams, along with the creative direction of Tim Burton, who is notorious for directing classical movies such as the “Night before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride.”
The show is a modern take on the hit classic, the “Addams Family.” In its premise, the series focuses on following the adventures of the daughter of the family as she makes her way through life in high school. Instead of Wednesday Addams trying to fit into social norms, she keeps her unique demeanor and uses her wit in solving mysteries throughout the school.
While “Wednesday” has a rating of TV-14, the show has been a hit amongst a long range of ages, with its primary audience consisting of teenagers and young adults. In fact, even if someone hasn’t watched the show, chances are they probably came across the show from social media, or heard of it from one of their friends.
“I was bored, and I asked my friends what I should watch,” Lambert sophomore Roshan Shah said. “They recommended Wednesday. I loved the show with its mystery and all the plot twists it had.”
While many fans were probably ecstatic over the idea of a second season, this excitement is also met with a number of worries. Whether it will live up to the success of its preceding season, or worse, severely underperform compared to the original season, fans are left anxious over the season release.
“I was excited when they announced it, since they ended it on a cliffhanger,” Roshan Shah said. “I think the writer of the show is pretty good though, so I think he’ll do a good job on continuing the mystery aspect.”
Despite Netflix’s quick announcement about the return of the series, fans will most likely have to wait for a long period of time before finally being able to see a glimpse of what season two has to offer.
