Currently with 5 wins this season, the Lambert High School’s Boys Soccer team is going strong. Looking forward, the team will be having a game against South Forsyth High School here on the 31st.

Even with all the success and upcoming games, what goes on behind the scenes is what makes the team be able to perform at this level. Alex Grigorian, a freshman JV player here at Lambert, enjoys being a part of the team which is helping him to make new friends through the process. Besides all the fun and games, the hard work done by each individual is what has been leading the team to success.

The most difficult aspect of being a part of the team for many players is the dedicated time towards individual/team practice. However, just like any other average high school student, daily struggles are always present and equally affecting.

“For me, the hardest part is having to wake up early for practice,” Grigorian said.

Regardless of the struggles that come with being a player, Grigorian advises future soccer athletes who may want to be a part of the team to always try their hardest and to make every moment count.

On the split side of things, Coach Wilson, who is the head coach for soccer, believes that the season is going well so far. From his perspective, the team is working hard to get better and better as a team. He currently looks forward to the Border Classic Soccer Invitational this week which will consist of three games against opponents from all over South Carolina and Georgia. The teams have worked hard to get to this point, and their hard work is likely to pay off.

“We started the season with 1 win, 1 loss, & 2 ties,” Coach Wilson explained. However, we have gone 7-1 since the first 4 games including our region record of 4-0. Hard work pays off.”

Similarly to Grigorian, Coach Wilson advises potential future athletes who may want to try out for the team to work every day to not only make themselves a better athlete, but a better student and person.

“Work on your weaknesses more than your strengths,” Coach Wilson encouraged.

In the end, the boy’s soccer team will always remain hard working athletes and students. Their hard work shows off when they play against opponents from different schools, so make sure to look out for their future games and cheer on their teams as they play!
