Worldly Gems

“I wrote this piece in inspiration of a picture that I took at Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville, Georgia. My family goes hiking almost every weekend, and we love venturing out and finding new places. Living so close to the North Georgia mountains, we are so blessed to be able to see the pure world that God created. However, not many people get to experience this; they are stuck in their non-stop, everyday lives. I think everyone should take a step back and truly appreciate the land around them.” -Jessica Borla

What hidden beauty the world beholds,
Pure and untouched.
Far closer such splendor lies than most realize,
And therefore they do not explore this world;
Robots stuck in this urban universe,
Blind.
Machines on autopilot,
Too engaged, too superb
For the nature which they rose from.
A little curiosity, a little concern, a little desire.
An abundance of things remains,
Waiting to be delved into.
Sometimes, however, these enchantments
Are found in the most unexpected of places.
The discoverers awaken,
An immense appreciation inflates
Their once empty body
With life, knowledge, and comfort.
These humans gain a profusion of occhiolism,
But also feelings of being on top of the world.
Special.
These people who defy reality
And escape to the genuine, transparent, real
Side of life are oh so special.
And so the Creator provides the gift
To the few who claim to seek it.
