As the end of the school year quickly approaches, the halls are filled with student’s plans for the summer. Final exams take place throughout the week of May 18, 2026 – May, 22, 2026. After exams conclude and the final bell rings, students are finished for the year. Whether it’s sitting by the pool or volunteering at camp, Lambert students are ready to have fun in the sun.
At Lambert, students are offered multiple opportunities over the summer even though school isn’t taking place. Sports provide a range of summer activities with numerous camps, training sessions and practices. Forsyth Virtual Academy (FVA) and the Georgia Virtual School (GAVS) offer extra-credit or online course classes to participate in during June and July. Many students are involved in band, colorguard or other clubs that may hold rehearsals or workouts over the summer. Lambert also offers internships with local businesses for students to get a head start into the workforce.
Students are thrilled to have long careless days in the sun and spend time with friends. Lambert sophomore Emma Unsworth looks forward to summer every year and never has a boring day.
“I’m so excited that summer is coming up,” Unsworth said. “I love getting to spend time with my friends and being able to work with my summer lifeguarding job, which is good opportunity to make money.”
Summer break is a perfect reward for students to relax and unwind after stressful exams. They get to find time for new hobbies, activities and refresh for a new school year in the fall. Many families make plans to travel and take vacation over the summer as well.
“I’m going to the Dominican Republic to visit family and Miami to see my cousins,” Lambert freshman Mimi Omotayo stated. “I can’t wait to come back to Lambert next year as a sophomore!”
When the last bell rings and the stress of finals come to an end, students are fully prepared for summer break. It’s a bittersweet feeling to see friends for last time, watch seniors graduate and look back on all of the fun memories, but the excitement of summer can overpower all of that. Whether they are traveling outside of the state or staying close to home, everyone is looking forward to the time off. It’s a chance for students, teachers and staff to recharge and reset for next year.
