At Lambert, Blessings in a Backpack is a student-lead organization that provides food to underprivileged kids across America. Each week, they feed almost 600 kids each weekend of the school year. Blessings in a Backpack promotes a yearly fundraiser to raise money and help the childhood hunger cause. The third annual “Circus Blessing” fundraiser was held at the Cumming Fairgrounds on April 25, 2026. The annual event aims to connect social impact with community.
The Circus Blessing is an annual fundraising event that is held at the fairgrounds to support the club. The Circus, created by middle schooler Kylee Zulauf, is to raise money for Blessings in a Backpack and provide more food for underprivileged kids. The event features circus acts like stilt walkers, aerialists, jugglers, magicians, carnival games, petting zoos and food trucks with carnival food. The fundraiser aims to raise money and spread awareness to families about the club in Georgia. Each year, over 200 guests attend the organization event to help fight childhood hunger.
The upcoming president of Blessings in a Backpack for the 2026-2027 year is rising senior Regan Erickson. Erickson is passionate about the club and is involved with each of its yearly fundraisers.
“This year was the third time we have put on this event,” Erickson stated. “We have local vendors come out and volunteers, even lambert students to help us run it.”
The collaborative effort from the community to help with the event creates an atmosphere that’s welcoming and diverse. The organizers of the fundraiser want to emphasize that the event is designed to include everyone and spread awareness of its cause.
“We try to involve people of all ages to come out and hang with us for a couple hours while supporting a very important cause that helps our community,” Ericson said. “It’s crazy to see how many people depend on us every week, and it’s so special when we get thank yous from parents and kids because it shows the real impact we have on them.”
The ultimate goal of the fundraiser is to raise money to support the end of hunger in children. By promoting the event and gaining a larger audience, each year Blessings in a Backpack donates thousands to this cause. A Circus Blessing is just one step in making a huge impact in the community for children.
