Senior and Captain of the Snare Drumline for Marching Band, Isabella Easow has grown as both a leader and musician during her years at Lambert. Beginning her journey in band in 6th grade, to becoming lead percussionist at Lambert, she has truly built up her passion for the arts.
As the Center Snare, Easow is in charge of all the drummers on the field. Her consistency and determination have contributed to her earning the position. Every summer along with her teammates, Easow attends the two-week long Marching Bandcamp, which consists of long ten-hour days in intense heat. Even with all the physical and mental challenges, she rises to the occasion and perseveres.
“Going out and competing, having thousands of people watching you and doing well is just such a surreal feeling,” Easow emphasized.
Easow’s experience on the team was especially meaningful because of the bonds she formed. The upperclassmen created an environment that allowed her to grow, not only as a musician, but also as a person. Whether the team is spending time eating together, or playing volleyball, they are always having fun.
“Band is very much a big family,” Easow said. “We are a very close, tight knit group.”
Notably, this year’s season stood out for both Easow and the program, as they excelled in the Bands of America regionals in both Chattanooga, Tennessee and Orlando, Florida. These competitions featured some of the strongest marching bands in the South. Lambert proved itself to be one of them, receiving first place in Chattanooga and fourth place in Orlando.
Through Easow’s dedication to marching band she serves as a model Longhorn. As she looks ahead to her freshman year at the University of Georgia, she hopes to continue her passion of music.
