With a new season coming up, junior Ryan Dyce is getting ready to take on the Lambert Football program. After moving from Douglas County High School, Dyce is already preparing to step into a quarterback role for next year on the Lambert team.
Although moving into a new school can be challenging, he says the transition has been smooth. Academically as well as athletically, he feels supported by his teachers and coaches.
“My teachers made it a good environment for me to learn,” Dyce said. “My coaches and teammates also challenge me and push me to be a better person every single day.”
Dyce has been playing football his whole life. He started at quarterback when he was younger and has stayed in that position ever since. Over the years, he has continued to improve and grow in the role. He believes his biggest strengths are his accuracy and versatility. He describes his playing style as “a dual threat,” meaning he can both pass and run effectively.
Even though the season hasn’t started yet, Dyce is already putting in the work. During the offseason, he lifts weights every day, watches film and trains to improve his fundamentals and speed. He also goes to the field twice a week with his receivers to build a stronger connection and better chemistry before the season begins.
Dyce has big goals for himself and the team. Personally, he hopes to gain more passing yards and receive college offers. For the team, his goals are just as high.
“Go undefeated, win the region and win the state championship,” Dyce said.
As next season approaches, Dyce is focused, motivated and ready to play. If his hard work during the offseason is any sign of what’s to come, Longhorn fans have a lot to be excited about.
