Over the past four years, Molly Taylor has built a strong reputation at Lambert, not just as an athlete, but as a leader. She leads by example, as the captain of the girls’ varsity basketball team. Her dedication and work ethic, both on the team and as a student at Lambert, is just a glimpse of why she is so respected within the community.
Taylor plays as a Forward on Lambert’s basketball team, which is a position that requires consistency and strategy. Her role includes taking the ball out of bounds, helping to move the ball up the court, shooting and rebounding. She has been on the varsity team all of her high school career and has worked hard to earn the role of captain.
“I think that I am a good leader and I am also hard working,” Taylor emphasized. “I always show up with a positive attitude.”
Being a student-athlete means that balancing responsibilities can be challenging, but Taylor has found a good rhythm for a routine that works well for her during the week. During the school day, Taylor focuses on her academics and classes, but once practice begins, she turns her game mode on. After practice, she usually finishes her homework before focusing on recovery to prepare her body for the next day’s practice or game. This discipline has helped her succeed with time management at school and balancing all of her commitments, including her role in the team.
“I spend most of my time at school being focused on my schoolwork, and then when it comes time to practice, I definitely shift my focus to that,” Taylor said.
Outside of being an athlete, Taylor is very involved at Lambert. She participates in several clubs, including National Honor Society (NHS), Blessings in a Backpack and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) . Within NHS, she serves as the Vice President of Communications, where she handles the meeting slides and keeps members informed about service opportunities, volunteer hours and upcoming events and dates. Her participation in multiple clubs and her dedication to everything she is involved with shows her commitment to making a positive impact on the community and at Lambert.
Taylor’s persistence during her time at Lambert is seen through her involvement and motivation for the team, her club activities and her academics. Over her years as a student, she has truly made a difference, serving as an influential individual to her teammates, friends and peers.
