The Weeknd released his new Album “Dawn FM” on January 7th. This is his 5th studio album, with his last album being “After Hours” in 2020.

The Weeknd showcased his passion for film in this album. The album enlists imagery of death and love to create a compilation of songs. The name “Dawn Fm” is supposed to represent the last radio channel on air. While certainly dark, the album walks the listeners through the process of death to the afterlife.

While expectations were high for this album, sadly, it did not deliver. The concept was fascinating but the songs did not meet the standard of what his audience wanted. The album features many never before heard songs such as “Gasoline” that are actually pretty good. Still, the majority of the songs are mediocre at best.

Many Lambert students would agree that the album was underwhelming. Stephanie Silvestro, a senior at Lambert, is one of them.

“The album is not one of his best,” Silvestro stated.” It was very rushed but it was such a cool concept.”

Nicole Santiago, another senior at Lambert, had to disagree with the hate the new album is receiving.

“This album was so fun to listen to,” Nicole stated. “I feel like while it may not be his best work, people should recognize the amount of effort he put into this.”

“Dawn FM” is a very interesting album, whether you like it or not. While his last album, “After Hours”, is a better listen, the latest album is definitely a more exciting concept.
