Lambert High School is proud to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the 2020-2021 school year with the LLS Hero Squad Fundraiser! This program allows schools to register with the organization and create fundraising goals in order to support their mission: “by uniting students through teamwork, empathy, and respect for others, we strive to achieve our ultimate squad goal: a world without blood cancer.”

Lambert’s Hero Squad fundraiser will run from now until Friday, March 5th where everyone’s amazing accomplishments will be recognized and celebrated during their corresponding class pep rally. The ultimate goal is to raise $15,000 which will be the most any high school has ever raised. Dr. Davidson has even vowed to have his head shaved at the pep rally if this goal is met!

Lambert’s Hero Squad Honored Hero is Faith Johnson, a senior here at Lambert. Faith has always been incredibly involved at Lambert and in her community. From serving as Student Council President and participating on the Varsity Swim Team, Compass, iGEM, HOSA, Beta, and NHS, she has worked incredibly hard throughout her four years at Lambert and has touched the hearts of everyone she has crossed paths with.

On November 11, I was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia,” Johnson shared on the LLS website. “I was immediately admitted to the hospital for a week and had surgery to place my port and begin my chemotherapy treatments.”

As someone with such a wide outreach and impact, the news of her diagnosis immediately rallied the community behind her. As of today, Lambert has already raised $7,050 which is 47% of the goal.

“This has been one of the scariest but eye-opening times of my life and I am so grateful for the support and love from everyone,” Johnson concluded.

Here are some of the numerous activities to participate in the next few weeks in order to support LLS and Lambert’s own Faith Johnson:

Week 2: Tuesday 2/16 – Friday 2/19:

  • 1,000 roses for Leukemia/Lymphoma: Roses are being sold from Tuesday to Thursday before school and during lunch and learn for $2! Students can pay via mypaymentsplus, a check, or cash.
  • Friday 2/19: The roses will be delivered all over the school!

Week 3: Monday 2/22 – Friday 2/26:

  • The 7-Day Hero Squad Competition will begin on February 18th and continue until the 26th! Students will form “squads” and compete to see which group can earn the most money. Squads can collect donations via Lambert’s LLS Hero Squad page!

Week 4: Monday 3/1 – Friday 3/5:

  • Thursday 3/4: Students who donate $10 or more to the Hero Squad competition will be invited to watch a Superhero movie in the Auditorium and receive popcorn, candy, and water! Freshmen and Sophomores will attend during the 1st period block and Juniors and Seniors will attend during the 3rd period block.

  • Friday 3/5: All students will attend a pep rally during their designated class time. Freshmen and Sophomores will attend during 2nd period block and Juniors and Seniors will attend during 4th period block. Students and staff are invited to dress as their favorite superhero! Students will be able to purchase raffle tickets for $1 (profits will go to LLS) and potentially receive prizes. During each class pep rally, a staff member will have their head shaved along with Dr. Davidson who will have his shaved if the $15,000 goal is met!

Donate today to take part in a meaningful initiative to further research potential cures for Leukemia and Lymphoma. This truly is an amazing cause and opportunity to show support for one of Lambert’s own!
