It’s not often that a brand or media project has the opportunity for a second life. LambertAM is planning a revival for 2024, using its predecessor’s infrastructure and name to create a new product with a mission of becoming a cultural mainstay for students, staff and beyond.

Lambert previously had an iteration of LambertAM, which operated as a part of morning announcements up until it was eventually phased out during the 2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current reboot was originally conceived as part of an assignment for an audio-visual class and has since expanded into a fully-fledged series.

Senior Harshaa Rajarajan leads the new generation of LambertAM, helping to direct students to deliver the best product possible.

“I definitely think setting standards is like the first step towards making this the best thing possible”, Rajarajan commented. “You can tell anyone to record a video or record a news channel, but you don’t know if it’s going to be good or not.”

According to Rajarajan, the new iteration of LambertAM strives for a fun, casual tone rather than the mostly informational purpose of the original, including segments meant to highlight student life and accomplishments. With the need for school-wide public service announcements being carried out daily by Principal Thrower, LambertAM instead is shifting its goal to culturally unifying students, staff and the wider community.

“We took that idea… we wanted to make it a community thing where it makes the school a more cohesive place,” Rajarajan said.

LambertAM’s hiatus, lasting just about four years, has given the school an opportunity to evolve, with a new principal along with shifting demographics and trends. In 2024, LambertAM might embrace the branding and general concept of its namesake, but the people behind it are modernizing the show for a new audience.

“Why throw all of this really useful equipment away when you could repurpose it for a new thing?” Rajajaran noted. “Once you set the standard, you know what to do, and it’s up to your creative disposal to pursue a product.”

The series is tentatively going to be presented during advisement days (the second and fourth Fridays of each month). Watch the trailer online here!
