DECA, FBLA and HOSA are some of Lambert’s largest clubs. Many students are in one or more of these clubs. HOSA is a club for students interested in healthcare, while DECA and FBLA are for students interested in marketing and business. Both DECA and HOSA have meetings on the second Tuesday of every month, and FBLA meets on the first Friday of every month.

HOSA

Lambert’s HOSA chapter is a club that supports leadership and the healthcare field as a career opportunity. The club is one of the largest secondary chapters, which means a club in a school,  in the world.

HOSA is sponsored by Catherine Sharer, Cathay O’Haver, Josh Bush, Melinda Suber and Tracy Floyd. The current presidents are Avaneesh Choragudi and Rachna Murugula. HOSA has many activities and opportunities for members such as community service, like the blood donation a few weeks ago, and fundraising. They can also participate in the Regional, State and the National Leadership Conference or compete in one of the 64 competitions available. In addition to the conferences and competitions, HOSA has many other events that students can participate in such as the Popsicle Social on September 1 or Fall Rally on October 13.

“I would say we have a lot in store this year,” Sophomore Arpita Jagga said. “From part of the officer team, everything that previous members have voiced their concern on, we are trying to fix.”

FBLA

Lambert’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter is part of one of the oldest and largest national clubs. FBLA prepares students for the business world and provides professional skills and leadership skills through leadership conferences.

FBLA is sponsored by Jason Ware, Joe Fuqua, Jason Earwood, Satheya Chandran, Stephanie Vanslyke and Waheetha Yunus. Aishu Meyyappan is currently the FBLA President. FBLA has conferences, competitive events and community service projects that members can participate in. FBLA’s Fall Rally will be on October 2 at Six Flags. The club offers 150 business and skill-related areas for the competitive events. 34rgMembers must be very involved in the club to become an officer. They can use opportunities provided by FBLA to do this.

“Definitely put in a lot of work in the beginning so you can become higher,” Freshman Sahana Deepak advised.

FBLA’s statewide philanthropy includes March of Dimes, which begins in January. The club also supports local causes and does projects in its feeder elementary and middle schools.

DECA

Lambert’s Association of Marketing Students (DECA) chapter is a club that prepares students for careers in finance, hospitality, management and marketing. Lambert’s chapter is the third largest chapter in the state and fourth largest chapter in the world.

DECA is sponsored by Cassidy Mazzei, Brian Biggers and Michael Roberts. The DECA president is currently Estelle Shen. While anyone is welcome to join, DECA now requires one marketing class in order to compete. Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in room 1611. DECA membership allows students to participate in competitions like the Regional, State and the International Career Development Conferences.  Club field trips include the Fall Rally at Six Flags on October 4, ICDC in the spring and Leadership Conferences that happen throughout the year. DECA also has community service opportunities. Members can become eligible for National DECA and Georgia DECA scholarships. DECA is a good experience for students interested in marketing careers .

“I have loved my experience in DECA,” Freshman Shaunak Buche said. “I believe everyone should join it. I believe that is a great way to prepare for your future while still meeting new people, and it’s a lot of fun.”
