Lambert High School is holding its 2024 Prom on April 27. This year, prom is being held at the Ramsey Conference Center in Gainesville. The theme for this year’s prom is “At Last We See The Light,” a famous song from the Disney movie “Tangled.” This allows for the Lambert Student Government Association (SGA) to incorporate floating lanterns and the movie’s color scheme, ensuring that students have a magical experience.

SGA member Bailey Daughtery is one of the students planning prom with SGA advisor Rachel Smirnov.

“We really didn’t have a hard time planning prom,” Daugherty said. “Us as students have limited ability in planning prom. We had a few meetings and settled on a theme. But for the SGA sponsors, they put a lot more work into the details that nobody is thinking about. Mrs. Smirnov did a great job organizing everything that the committee of students couldn’t do.”

Details that go into planning prom that students don’t always notice are the way the food, decorations, and lighting are assembled to fit the theme. There are particular pieces of entertainment that are put in place by SGA, but are not always noticeable to attendees.

“I feel like people don’t know the theme going into prom,” Daughtery explained. “For example last year’s theme was Greek, and that was the reasoning behind all of the decorations. We had a lot of entertainment/ activities, for example a photo booth and all the dessert that not many people took advantage of.”

Although Lambert wants students to have as much of a good time as possible, seeing as it is a school event, it is important that students conduct themselves appropriately.

“I feel like as long as you’re not being obnoxious, then everything will be fun,” Daughtery claimed. “Prom is only what you make of it. If you choose to go into the dance thinking that it’s going to be awful, then it will bebut if you choose to have fun, then your attitude will reflect on your night.”

For students who want to attend prom, tickets are currently $75 and will go up to $85 on April 22. Tickets will be sold up until April 26.
