As Lambert’s graduating class wraps up their final year of high school, seniors are eagerly anticipating the annual Senior Sunset celebration on May 1, 2025. The event is organized by Lambert’s Student Council (StuCo) and acts as a finale of the festivities of August’s Senior Sunrise. Members of the class of 2025 will cap off a poignant last day of school by gathering on the lower grass field and enjoying precious moments with friends and classmates. As the sun sets on an eventful high school career for these seniors, many are looking forward to one final ride as a member of the Longhorn community.
Students planning to attend a university far from home were especially excited for the chance to connect with friends before heading to their new destinations.
“Going to an out-of-state school is a little sad, since all my friends are going to Georgia Tech,” Lambert senior Pranav Srambikkal explained. “I’m kind of worried that I won’t be able to connect with people in a new city, but Senior Sunset is a way to kind of forget about all that for a day. It’s a chance to meet up with my [friends] one last time.”
Senior Sunset offers students a chance to unwind and meet classmates they would not normally see due to varied schedules and academic commitments. Especially with seniors heading across the country for college, many are grateful for the opportunity to connect with friends they may see less frequently come fall. The event also encourages students to bring their own picnic blankets, snacks and games, giving the graduating class a full-circle opportunity to celebrate with friends and cap off a rewarding four years.
Furthermore, students can look forward to a variety of concessions and snacks available for purchase at Senior Sunset. Last year, foods like Crumbl Cookies and ice cream from Brusters were available to students, and seniors can look forward to more sweet treats this time around.
“It’s going to be like a full-fledged celebration with food, friends and a lot of fun,” Lambert senior Shashank Ramireddy described.
As the year comes to a close, students are eager to enjoy one last event with their graduating class. With numerous events on tap and a fun-filled evening in store, seniors can expect to make lasting memories on their one final ride as a Longhorn.
